Jess Romeo

I run a psychiatric practice. I write about what that's actually like.

I'm Jess Romeo, PMHNP-BC. Founder of OutPsych and My Gender IQ. Templates, writing, and notes from the work.

I've been a clinician for fourteen years. For several of those, I've also been a small business owner. The combination has been instructive.

Most of what I do in any given week is operations, the kind of work nobody trains you for in school: writing SOPs, refining intake workflows, wrangling the tools and second-brain systems that let me keep being a clinician without drowning in admin.

This site is where I share some of that work. Writing, mostly. And the occasional template that other clinicians have asked me about, cleaned up enough to be useful.

About

I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner who started as a clinical social worker. I specialize in working with queer and trans communities, and I've been every letter in the LGBTQ alphabet at some point in my life. That makes me a both/and in two directions, clinician and social worker, provider and community. I'm drawn to depth, rigor, and to a philosophy of care that values lived experience alongside gold-standard evidence.

I founded OutPsych in [YEAR] and built My Gender IQ to do the kind of clinical work, and clinical education, I wished existed when I was coming up. I write, speak, and sometimes consult on clinical operations and AI for clinicians.
